historic lodge

Fort William H. Seward was the first military post established in Alaska during the gold rush era and was Alaska's only military facility between 1925 and 1940. The fort is named after William H. Seward, the United States Secretary of State, who oversaw the Alaska Purchase. We strive to give all our guests a comfortable, down to earth and friendly experience while sharing the rich historic feel of the lodge.
